Happy Holiday!

We have had a great year recording in 2009. The lord has blessed us with some great talent this year.
It blows my mind on how every year we grow and expand into doing music I would have never dreamed of producing! It’s fantastic!

I wanted to update everyone on a few things. I am in the middle of mixing a bunch of records that are completed. I will be posting links soon for everyone to check these guys out.

I wanted to drop a note on special groups I have met this year. One of them being a young band from WV…Brite Light Ave. Also Hello Forever from Knoxvegas,Tn! These bands are fantastic and I advise everyone to check them out asap!

Also…I have been playing out guitar wise a little bit this year. I have really enjoyed seeing everyone out and about this year. I know next year I will be traveling some more…that is something I always love to do! Specially since I have been going thru a crazy Strat phase and I love trying new gear out on the road!

A holiday note:

Merry Christmas to everyone…there is a lot of need in our area right now due to the economy. I challenge everyone to serve and help in anyway you can in your community and church.

There is so much going on right now so the easiest thing to do is to make a “TOP 10″ list of what is going on!

(special note…if you go to my myspace link you can hear a song from D.O.S. and The Outpouring..:))

1. “The Outpouring” cd is has finally been released…it will be up on itunes in a matter of weeks. The release party will be August 29th at Morganton First Assembly of God..Morganton,Nc.

2. The new DAYS OFF SCREEN E.P. is completed and is in the final stages of being mixed….It is amazing.
Big things are happening for these guys…stay tuned.

3. Check out Oscar Carias at ….this one of my first “Spanish” productions…I love it…this guy is a true worshiper…..Expect the final record to be ready in the fall.

4. Also check out Douglas Solera at ….He also is a Hispanic worship leader….his record will be out in the fall….:)

5. AND NOW INTRODUCING….”Waiting on Redemption”….now you may not know who these guys are yet…but they are a young Christian band out of Morganton,NC. If you take Skillet and mix it with some Lincoln Park….you have them…..they have just started recording…I will update you on them in a month or so…

6. So…do I have any new gear? Yes..I do…I am going thru a bit of a STRAT phase…..I spent almost 10 years avoiding them and now I own 3….crazy…..Also we did pick up some new VOX amps and cabinets….along with the EGNATER Rebel I am still crazy about…

7. Ricky does Country?…um…yes…..sort of….thru some friends I met a great group called “Hickory Switch”…they like there country music rockin’ a bit…which is right up my alley….be looking out for them soon…..if I had a link I would post it!? But I cannot find one right now!

8. A lot of people ask about my wife and family…My wife Tyson is doing great…She is healthy and CANCER FREE…and starting her masters…oh boy! The kids are busy swimming this summer and being crazy…the way we like it! We plan on rocking a MIAMI DOLPHINS GAME THIS YEAR AS A FAMILY! And….finally I am planning on seeing U2…one of my favorite bands!

9. I feel a shredder in the wind….oh yes….something I have been keeping under wraps for a while is that I am currently wrapping up production for a guitar instrumental record….I will give you more news later on this but…..if you go on youtube and search for BombHouse Recording you will get a hint of what is going on…..:)

10…Things I think you need to think about….Don’t think..get the new Killswitch Engage record…Brendan O’brien produced it…need I say more?!

Ha! I know I have been slacking on the blog updates but here we go…Things have been busy and I wanted to discuss a few topics..this is random…..just a warning!

#1..How are the 2 studio’s going?

The 2 studio thing is working out well….It is nice to have both locations going which allows for flexible scheduling and so forth…Honestly..getting used to mixing in a new room is stressful however I can say the mixes coming out of my new studio may be some of the best quality done yet.

#2 Any new gear?

Ummm…Yes…An Egnater Rebel 20 (killer guitar amp) has made it’s way into my arsenal and it is AMAZING! Also there is a custom Strat loaded with Dimarzio “area” series pick ups…Also there is a Peavey Windsor amp as well….this is basically a JCM 800 on steriods…great tube amp and very affordable…..We have also picked up some new mics and pre’s as well….

#3 Who has been working in the studio?

Ah….well we have had artists from Nashville,FL,KY…all over the place! I can provide a heads up on a few things….The Outpouring’s record is done…it sounds phenomenal and is for those who love a great Worship record….be on the look out for a release show in August.

Jacob Darden from Israel Darling has signed a deal with a cool company in NY. If you are a fan of Bright Eyes you will love him!

There are records coming from DAYS OFF SCREEN and This Year’s Promise…get ready for more info on these guys in the future.

#4 So…what’s up with the “Drama” in Morganton?

Yes….Morganton has been put on the map recently due to our School Board. This greatly upsets me and my family. We are fans of David Burleson period…enough said.

We are heading out to Kentucky this weekend for a live recording!  This will be our first of a few live gigs over the next month or 2!

The rig is pretty simple yet powerful …We are taking out an Alesis HD24 with various pre’s and also a Pro Tools rig. Once we track we edit everything in the Pro Tools environment and then do our overdubs if needed.

Again..as I mentioned previously in the next months I plan on saving up and getting the new Presonus Studio Live digital board!
