- An Update! Finally
Ha! I know I have been slacking on the blog updates but here we go…Things have been busy and I wanted to discuss a few topics..this is random…..just a warning!
#1..How are the 2 studio’s going?
The 2 studio thing is working out well….It is nice to have both locations going which allows for flexible scheduling and so forth…Honestly..getting used to mixing in a new room is stressful however I can say the mixes coming out of my new studio may be some of the best quality done yet.
#2 Any new gear?
Ummm…Yes…An Egnater Rebel 20 (killer guitar amp) has made it’s way into my arsenal and it is AMAZING! Also there is a custom Strat loaded with Dimarzio “area” series pick ups…Also there is a Peavey Windsor amp as well….this is basically a JCM 800 on steriods…great tube amp and very affordable…..We have also picked up some new mics and pre’s as well….
#3 Who has been working in the studio?
Ah….well we have had artists from Nashville,FL,KY…all over the place! I can provide a heads up on a few things….The Outpouring’s record is done…it sounds phenomenal and is for those who love a great Worship record….be on the look out for a release show in August.
Jacob Darden from Israel Darling has signed a deal with a cool company in NY. If you are a fan of Bright Eyes you will love him!
There are records coming from DAYS OFF SCREEN and This Year’s Promise…get ready for more info on these guys in the future.
#4 So…what’s up with the “Drama” in Morganton?
Yes….Morganton has been put on the map recently due to our School Board. This greatly upsets me and my family. We are fans of David Burleson period…enough said.

- Going “live” this weekend
HEY!We are heading out to Kentucky this weekend for a live recording! This will be our first of a few live gigs over the next month or 2!
The rig is pretty simple yet powerful …We are taking out an Alesis HD24 with various pre’s and also a Pro Tools rig. Once we track we edit everything in the Pro Tools environment and then do our overdubs if needed.
Again..as I mentioned previously in the next months I plan on saving up and getting the new Presonus Studio Live digital board!

I love this digital mixer..it does 2 things well…it’s a great live mixer and good way to record live shows and easily transfer them to a pro tools enviroment.
I believe this will be my next investment for my live recording rig!

- Studio Update…and stuff
hey guys,
I actually starting moving my rig the last 2 weeks and mixed a project there.
After doing so I realized I needed to tune the room! Anyway….we (me and my contractor) have designed some studio panels which are being ordered this week and will be built and put up next week.
The studio is booking up. We have quite a bit of new gear coming in. It looks like we will be able to provide a “ala cart” service of guitars, amps, pedal, mic pre’s and ect. for the downtown studio.

- Recording, Family and The Holidays..
WHAT UP!
Hey guys…I wanted to say a few things about how much I love the holidays and about our opportunity to serve and love each other. Whether it is family or friends…this time of year is when people need the “no strings attatched” love that God gives us!
Recently me and a friend of mine went to visit a mutual friend of ours that was going thru a tough time. It was simply a visit to let him know we love him and that God loves him regardless his “messing up”. The bottom line is whether you have lost a loved one recently, or you are alone, Christmas time is tough time for people. This reminds me that Christmas is not about the budget you plan to spend this year..it is about what God did for us…Not just for Christians but for everyone….pagans, muslims…everyone. We need to focus on the gift we received from Jesus and his birth rather than figuring out what freaking DS to get our kids…or what guitar pedal I need in my over stuffed pedal board :). HA! I know this is a little dark but it is on my heart today….
What does this have to do with the STUDIO? Well…to let you know..this studio (about to be studio’s) exist as a place for artists to come (not be judged) and help take there craft to the next level. I provide a way to help them musically and sometimes spiritually….I think this is why the studio has been booked solid…We serve people….that is it…So…my challenge to you and my family is….who can we serve/help over the holidays?
A simple email goes a long way…a lunch…just something.
Everyone knows I love family…I consider anyone that has worked in my studio as an artist or an engineer as family to me…So MERRY CHRISTMAS!..
